I should have asked them to exclude, so that was my mistake. I'm also not a big fan of raw onions, so I felt like the wrap had a ton of red onions throughout. My wrap was missing the avocado and lacked flavor, like it wasn't tossed in the vinaigrette. The salad comes with mixed greens, roasted corn, red peppers, avocado, red onion, tomato, red cabbage, pepitas, tortilla strips, Feta cheese and a chili lime vinaigrette. I turned down the offer since I didn't want to fill up on bread. The cashier suggested I opt into the lunch special, but there was only a $1-$2 difference for the added breadstick. I chose to get the South of the Border salad in a wrap (extra $0.79). My latest visit proved to be a little better, but it wasn't perfect, haha. The second time was a cartwheel salad that wasn't very memorable, but I remembered I wasn't a fan of the mix. I learned my lesson to just ask for dressing on the side moving forward. It was a difficult lunch to finish, but I did it anyway. In addition, the arugula's bitterness was not helping at all. I remember this dish so vividly because the dressing was so incredibly sour. The first time was the seared tuna salad on a bed arugula with a lemon olive oil dressing. You would think that with a food poisoning situation as serious as mine, the company would quickly reach out via call or email to fix the situation and keep me as a customer.įor lunch, I usually choose their petite salad selection. It was honestly such a terrible experience, both due to the food poisoning and the fact that the company has not done anything to remedy the situation. This was my first time getting the South of the Border Salad but I'm never coming back. I've had many of the other dishes at Stonefire Grill before (look at my previous 4 star review), such as the tri tip, breadsticks, pizza, etc. I can see that they respond quickly to Yelp reviews, so hopefully this is a better outlet for the company to rectify the situation.Īll of my previous visits have been 4 or 5 stars at both the Irvine and Lakewood locations. Unfortunately, it's now 10/1, and no one has called or emailed me. By 9/25, no one from Corporate HQ had called me, so I sent feedback on the online form on the Stonefire website, hoping that would be faster. He told me the he would be letting the Corporate HQ know, and they would be reaching out to me shortly to ask me more questions, and offer me a refund + gift card. I told him what I had ordered, as well as the symptoms of my food poisoning. The next day, 9/23, I called the restaurant and spoke to the store manager. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the breadstick because most tables were eating those. I honestly don't know if the veggies weren't washed properly, cheese was expired, or cross contamination had occurred? But something very clearly was off about that salad that destroyed my stomach and kept me in the bathroom for a long time. My food poisoning was for sure caused by Stonefire because I didn't eat anything else that day after 1pm and only drank water. HOWEVER, about 2.5 hours after my meal, I started getting really bad stomach pain, so much so that I almost pulled over on the freeway because I wanted to curl up in a ball :( Let's just say I had really bad food poisoning for the rest of the night and early morning the next day.
